CASTLE OF CHALMAZEL
This castle located on the village square of Chalmazel was transformed into a Renaissance residence after the Italian wars.
Majestically situated on the village square of Chalmazel, this 13th-century château built by the Counts of Forez was always the object of rivalry during the Hundred Years' War. It was transformed into a Renaissance residence on the return from the Italian wars by the Marquis de Talaru family, who owned it for seven centuries. Today, you can visit this magnificent edifice and even sleep in one of the sublime, comfortable rooms, with their timeless, historic charm, character and authenticity. As for the table d'hôtes, served in the guards' room, the courtroom and, in summer, on the terrace or in the inner courtyard, it's sure to be a culinary delight, skilfully prepared with fresh local produce and seasonal crops from the kitchen garden. And if you want to relax, there are plenty of leisure activities available on site and nearby... A simply superb place to be.
