VAUGIRARD CASTLE
Vaugirard Castle, classified as a Historic Monument, is a typical example of a pleasure residence from the early 18th century. The harmonious and symmetrical composition of the bell tower pavilions surrounding the main courtyard, preceded by a large alley, testifies to the French classicism of the Grand Siècle. This castle is remarkable for its interior paintings and large rooms decorated with French-style ceilings and monumental Baroque fireplaces. One of the rooms is decorated with large frescoes on the great carousel of Louis XIV, a representation unique in France on the walls of a castle. The original park was replanted in the English style at the beginning of the 19th century.
