THE CONVENT - CABINET OF CURIOSITIES
This private museum is a pure gem! In a former convent of the Saint Joseph sisters'congregation, recently restored, exhibitions revive this heritage while discovering part of Forez. The Ethnologist Daniel Pouget receives you and invites you to share his passions. The first museum pole concerns black magic in Auvergne: healers, envoûteurs or désenvoûteurs. We discover effigies and hearts pierced of pins, ropes of hanged, canes of magicians, scourges and forks to remove the Evil Man. From Bonaparte time, on the market in Montbrison, the ECU "to the cow" bought 30 francs: he was supposed to protect the demon. The second pole takes you to a world tour in the footsteps of shamanism and the sacred: a Dakini Tibetan statuette, for example, represents feminine power, vigour and charm; her long ears mean she listens, and she dances on the back of a dwarf that symbolizes ignorance. So many other treasures that ethnologist has brought back from his travels from Africa, Asia and Indonesia.
