ST. LÉGER'S CHURCH
Cheylade has one of the most original churches in the department. Built in the xie century, its exterior appearance is rather massive. It's inside that church hides its treasures. The choir is based on four main columns to carved capitals representing sirens and acanthic leaves. It has remarkable furniture like the wood Christ and the benitist of the xve. The most amazing is its ceiling in the seventeenth century. The three vaults consist of 1,428 polychrome wood casings representing plants and animals. The latter belong to the fantastic bestiary of the Middle Ages and the lower court. You will also see angels here and there. The naive expression of the renderings reinforces the charm of the whole. This ceiling is unique in France. To see absolutely!
