Originally there was an 11th century castle here with eleven towers, a wide moat and impressive thick defensive walls. From its eventful history, we know that Richelieu dismantled the building in the 17th century. Today, the tower that remains is a formidable belvedere which, from its 22 m high, offers a splendid panorama of the mounts of Lyonnais, Forez and Pilat. The diameter of the tower is 7.40 m and the thickness of its walls 1.74 m.
