LUPE CASTLE

A 13th century castle of defensive architecture with an imposing tower and a courtyard designed by the architect Philibert Delorme.
Without doubt one of the most beautiful buildings in the Pilat. Originally a fortified residence built in the 13th century, the castle of Lupé took on a different look when it passed from the Falatier family to the Gaste family, who turned it into a Renaissance residence of pleasure. The courtyard is the work of the famous Lyon architect Philibert Delorme. The castle, remarkable for its architecture, both defensive, with its imposing tower, and pleasant, would have hosted a summit meeting in 1274 between the King of France, Pope Gregory X and the archbishops of Lyon and Vienna.
