HOLY CLARE MONASTERY
A monastery in Montbrison home to Poor Clares praising God, interceding for the intentions of the people who live near them.
For more than 500 years, the monastery of the Poor Clares has been located in Montbrison. Founded by the family of Peter II of Urfé after his return from Turkey, it is one of the oldest monasteries in France. Having left in disgrace with the king, he returned a few years later in favour and attributed this return in grace to the prayers of his sister who was Clare. The Urfé family will always support this monastery. Today, the Poor Clares intercede for the intentions of the people who live near them, their families and all the great world causes. A shop offers religious articles and books, fair trade products and monastic products: jam, honey, pâtés...
