CHÂTEAU DE MONTROND LE FORT
Castle on a volcanic mound, with reconstructed seigniorial dwelling, immersive museum area and children's play area.
The château was built by the Saint-Germain-d'Apchon family in 1302 on a volcanic mound already fortified by the Counts of Lyon and Forez in the 11th century. Burnt down during the French Revolution, this feudal heritage was restored in 1969 by the Association des Amis du Château.
The museum is housed in an annex of the castle: an immersive experience in the history of Forez myths and legends, as well as in medieval daily life, with a fun trail featuring interactive games to learn more about this little-known period.
