A remarkable dam at Planfoy, one of Europe's first arched masonry gravity dams, ideal for walking and climbing.
The Gouffre d'Enfer dam is located just a few minutes from Saint-Étienne, and was inaugurated in 1866. One of the first masonry arch gravity dams in Europe, it was the highest dam in the world when it was built. Surrounded by wilderness, the dam is ideal for walking, thanks to its hiking trails, with views of the Château de Rochetaillée. As well as walking, you can discover even more activities at the Pôle d'Activités Verticales. Climbing and via ferrata await you for a crazy day in the heart of nature!
