If the astronomy club of Saint-Chamond is indeed based in this municipality, its observatory is more logically installed on a better site, in the Regional Natural Park of Pilat, in Luzernod, at an altitude of 800 m. The sky is so high in quality, in spite of the luminous disturbance caused by the halo of Saint Saint - Etienne and its suburbs, fortunately towards the north-west horizon (less observed in practice because less interesting). The beautiful 5 meter dome opens its window on the sky on the occasion of free public evenings organized every month, winter as summer, from 8 p. m. to 9 p. m. depending on the season (exact dates to be discovered on the club's website). It is also possible to go directly to the observatory on Friday evening when the weather is favorable.
