CINÉMATHÈQUE MUNICIPALE
Heir to the first public film library in France, built in 1922, the municipal film library offers a catalog of 5,500 films and 200 films by amateur filmmakers. Every month, many films are shown: great classics, films by authors, avant-garde films, films for children... Sometimes - and this is worth mentioning - in the presence of the director. The municipal video library also offers 400 regional documentary films that can be viewed on individual television sets. You yourself can deposit your films and videos made in the Loire to enrich the common heritage. The regional collection constitutes a real collective memory of the region of Saint-Etienne, with more than 1 700 films. Some titles can be consulted in the heritage room of the central media library of Tarentaize. Events (such as the Autrement Gay festival, a gay and lesbian film festival in Saint-Etienne, but also thriller and zombie nights) are organized. To make sure you don't miss any of the film library's screenings, you can consult the screening schedule directly on the media library's website or subscribe to the newsletter!
