Created in 2009, the Cité du Design de Saint-Etienne, together with the Ecole Supérieure d'Art et de Design, forms a Public Establishment for Cultural Cooperation, under the supervision of Saint-Etienne Métropole. The Cité works towards all publics, including schoolchildren and professionals, to impose design as a tool for innovation. More and more companies in the building, housing, furniture and decoration sectors are working in partnership. The Cité has organized the eleventh edition of the International Design Biennial in 2019. Numerous restaurants, institutions, schools and companies have since joined forces, giving rise to the Manufacture's creative district.
