The municipal archives fund is important and many research can be done: consult the civil status of Stéphanois for genealogical research, including municipal records (town planning, culture…) or the private archives of architect Léon Lamaizière… Many iconographic documents: Postcards, plans, old photos… concerning the city of Saint-Etienne are also available to the public. Competent people welcome researchers and guide them to appropriate research instruments. Many very informative temporary exhibitions are organized. Please note that the website is provided and provides the old archives, parish registers, registers of vital status, municipal council bulletins and the Napoleonic cadastre of Saint-Etienne and its annexed communes. Many animations are also offered to young audiences to raise the awareness of children from the earliest age to the heritage of Stéphanois.
