The mine was dug in 1907 and began operations in 1919. It was the largest mining operation in the basin. The site, closed in 1973, was classified as a historical monument in 2011. Rediscover the route taken by these workers who started by going to the checkroom: the hanging room, then into the underground galleries by taking the elevator. This visit offers a glimpse of the danger and fear that these miners could feel because of the numerous blasts of firedamp.

Intéressant et réaliste
Visite en groupe du puits Couriot, c'était intéressant, on se replonge bien dans l'ambiance de l'époque. Par contre, la guide avait un rythme un peu gâché qui était un peu étonnant. Musée intéressant également.

Redécouvrir le musée de la mine
A l'occasion d'un weekend, j'ai revisité le musée qui s'est énormément amélioré depuis des années.
La visite guidée est très bien faite et ludique (descente dans la mine puit petit tour en wagonnet).
C'est un endroit à ne pas manquer si vous êtes du côté de St Etienne (42).
