PASSEMAKER'S HOUSE
Museum to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the time and the daily life of the workers in Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds.
A century ago, the sound of Jacquard looms still echoed within the walls of this old building that had become a museum. In 2020, the Maison du Passementier has been given a facelift: the rooms have been modernised and the route redesigned. Throughout the visit, you will follow Jean, head of the family and workshop, during his day's work surrounded by his wife and children. An immersion in the atmosphere of the time and the daily life of the workers: passion for work well done, fears and anxieties about the future... From the kitchen stove to the bedroom, through the workshop, you will discover the life of one of these ribbon craftsmen. Through this story, you will discover beautiful collections: textiles, daily life, industry and contemporary creation. Follow the cultural program so you don't miss anything!
