THE BISSIEUX MINE
Events and discovery of the antimony mine of the 19th and 20th centuries through a tour by the association La Mine d'Or.
The association La Mine d'Or de Bissieux proposes during events, such as heritage days, but also on request, depending on the availability of volunteers, the visit of the site of the former gold mines of Bissieux called the mine of Saint-Martin la Plaine, the only one still valued in France, which interested King Henry IV and where, it is said, a gold cup was found in the eighteenth century. You can also discover the antimony mine of the 19th and 20th centuries through a circuit of 2 to 3 hours from the town hall. Although the deposit is now exhausted, the association keeps an important collection of material related to the history of this precious metal. A real gold outing!
