CHATEAU DES TOURS
Castle full of history, ancient military fortress built by Renaud de Forez with towers, including a medieval dungeon, a hourd.
A place full of history which is the object of restoration campaigns - but which reopened its doors to visits this spring - in order to safeguard this classified heritage. A former military fortress built by Renaud de Forez, Archbishop of Lyon, between 1213 and 1218, it was constantly occupied even though its general condition deteriorated over time. Today, it has regained its superb appearance with its towers, including a medieval dungeon and an unusual "hourd" (a platform). Inside the castle, Gallo-Roman mosaics can be seen.
