Restaurant where the chef cooks traditional Lyonnaise cuisine and delivers traditional dishes made with quality products.

Part of Lyon's gourmet heritage, La Meunière was founded in 1921! Year after year, from hand to hand, La Meunière has not aged a day, thanks to the talent and shared good humor of its successive owners. Now it's the turn of the excellent Olivier Canal, an emblematic chef of Lyonnais cuisine, and his partner Annick Roman, to keep the tradition alive. Quality products for classic dishes, some of which are brilliantly revisited: a plate of Lyonnais salad bowls, the house staple, the tablier de sapeur with gribiche sauce, quenelle de brochet with crayfish cream, ending with the Gnafron cup. Good wine and good cheer. Mâchon on reservation. A Meunière we love.

Whenever I’m in Lyon I head straight to this rustic 100-year-old bouchon for chef Olivier Canal’s generous serves of classics including andouillette, salade Lyonnaise, and quenelle de brochet. Food is unadorned, wine is in simple carafes and the atmosphere is pure Lyon. So good I’ve eaten here twice on a three day visit!
