GLOBE ET CÉCIL HÔTEL * * * *
Hotel in a beautiful family spirit located in the heart of the Presqu'île.
All the charm of the past in what appears to be Lyon's oldest hotel, combined with the comfort of modernity. A cocooning atmosphere in the beating heart of the Presqu'île, in a chic shopping district. A hotel with personality. With its unique style, the Globe et Cécil offers more than just 4-star services, focusing above all on people in a caring family spirit. Ideal location in the heart of the city's lively districts, tastefully decorated, personalized rooms and made-to-measure services. Hotel complemented by Comptoir Cecil. A wise choice.

I have been waiting to experience Globe et Cecil for a while and my expectation for a 272 Euro per night hotel were much higher.
First thing first, I arrived with a big and a small suitcases, the doors are just in front of of the reception and no one even bothered to look up and ask if I needed any help.
The receptionist who checked me in was careless, snobbish and seemed like she was doing me a favour.
Again, no one offered me any help to bring my bags upstairs - for which I would have said no, but a little gesture or smile never hurt anyone.
My room was lovely, old style, but comfortable. The pavement wasn’t even, but that’s ok as.
Because they sell themselves as Eco hotel - there’s not minibar, which I am fine with it but not even a bottle of water seemed a bit too much. And yes. Too cheap.
The bathroom was probably what would you
expect from a 2* hotel. First of all there is a step which you need to mind of. The hot tub is extremely high and if you have knee problems it’s hard to jump in. There is no shower stand. The hairdryer is really old and powerless.
The hall yesterday evening smelled very badly because the restaurant was full and the stinks of fish or whatsoever was everywhere and unbearable to enjoy a drink sitting on their sofa. So either you stay in your room without a drink or die.
At midday I was checking out carrying my bags outdoor while the phone rung and the receptionist was on the line to pressure me to leave the room.
The lady at the check out was nice, but nothing special or memorable. In general the receptionists seems to be there to spend time and aren’t nice or engaging or professional. Very bad experience from this point of view.
Breakfast at 8am ( starts at 7 ) was really nice, although some products were finished and not replaced … no comment.
Tables were not cleaned and in general there is no service.
I am more than often refrain to leave bad reviews, but I am extremely disappointed by the lack of service and the value for money.
I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel at all.
