Every big city must have its Republic, but Lyon can boast of making its Marianne even more beautiful than elsewhere thanks to this brasserie opening onto the Place de l'Hôpital. With the Grand Hôtel-Dieu as a backdrop, the terrace enthuses an ever-growing public that seems to get younger when the evening arrives. We say "public" because the République (a clever play on words) is also known for broadcasting all the major sporting events - OL matches in particular - which can be experienced "live" with other supporters. Whether you win or lose, a cocktail is a must, accompanied by tapas and a good sound in this festive bar.

Très bien
SA terrasse en face de l'hôtel Dieu, dans une place piétonne est unique. La brochette de boeuf était parfaite ainsi que le café gourmand. Service rapide et sympathique.
Nous y retournerons, surtout si le soleil sera de la partie.

Long and quite expensive menu, I strongly not this place to you, although it is pretty and pleasant. Rather prefer a bar in the Old Lyon, on the other side of the Saône.
