CONFLUENCE MUSEUM
The city's latest museum, a magical place to visit, an architectural jewel floating on the water, located in Lyon.
A 21st-century museum that takes visitors on a journey through time and space, to better understand the complexity of mankind and the world. An incredible aerial building at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, this museum offers not only the best image of a modern city, but also unique collections that visitors can discover at their own pace. There's a place for everyone in this immense, transparent structure, where you're guided by friendly staff who know how to direct you according to your expectations. There are the "strollers" who stroll and climb (it's free!) to the4th floor to admire the view over Lyon, and the "visitors" who climb to level 2 of the "Nuage", a stainless steel-clad metal structure, to discover the permanent collections. These are divided by theme - Origins, the stories of the world; Species, the web of life; Societies, the theater of mankind; Eternities, visions of the beyond - in four areas to be visited at your own pace, according to your own interests, to discover the 8,000 objects (out of the 3.5 million in the museum's reserves) on display, including pieces unique in the world and prestigious collections, in rooms with different scenographies, taking advantage of the latest technologies (video, audio, touch screens) for a truly interactive museography. Impressive dinosaur skeletons or a disquieting Peruvian mummy, fragments of the Moon to touch and numerous terrestrial animals to look at: objects from the past and the future all telling a story, opening up avenues for reflection, providing solutions and appealing to all audiences. A contemporary museum, a wonderful museum that doesn't just exhibit, but awakens feelings, speaks to us about humanity and nature, opens up horizons and makes explorers of us all. Numerous temporary exhibitions take place in the museum throughout the year, inviting visitors to contemplate and reflect. During the vacations, families can also enjoy shows and workshops. More than a museum, it's a place for cultural exchange and sharing. These exchanges continue through temporary exhibitions, the museum bookshop, workshops open to all, shows and meetings. Another of the museum's pleasures is its food and beverage service, including the excellent Brasserie des Confluences. The Musée des Confluences is not just a visit, but a series of fascinating visits.
