ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH

This church was built between 1868 and 1873 by the Savoyard architect Eugène Denarié, the brother of Gaspard Denarié, a doctor of medicine from Chambéry known to have been a supporter of the annexation of Savoy to France. His father was a master mason and architect. It replaces in Albertville, with this new building, the old church of the city, which has become outdated and too small. He gives it a neo-Gothic "troubadour" style that contrasts with the neoclassical style of the civil buildings in Albertville. A way to revive, undoubtedly, with the spiritual impetus of the Middle Ages as evidenced by the buttresses and broken arches... We can take a particular interest in its bell-tower-porch and towers.
