UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM PLAN DAMS
Plan d'Amont and Plan d'Aval dams in Aussois, offering the opportunity for a nice walk or a good fishing trip.
The site, at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park, is about 7 km from the village, accessible by a road that is closed to traffic during winter, but this does not prevent hikers (on foot or snowshoes) from getting there. All you have to do is contact the Aussois tourist office to check the conditions of access. Built between 1945 and 1956, these two water reservoirs contribute to the filling of the Mont-Cenis dam lake. The Plan d'Amont and Plan d'Aval dams ensure the operation of the valley's power plants. These dams, which have shaped the landscape for several decades, are also the occasion for a nice walk or a good fishing trip.
