A statue in Chambéry, designed by Alexandre Falguière, to celebrate the centenary of Savoie's attachment to France.
The statue sculpted by Alexandre Falguière and erected on a square in Chambéry in 1892 to celebrate the centenary of the attachment of Savoy to France, was very quickly nicknamed La Sasson, which means "fat woman" a bit niggardly in patois. The generous proportions of the 5 m high bronze woman carrying a flag and supposed to represent a Savoyard woman. Unbolted during the war, the statue was found decapitated in a station in Germany. Repatriated, it found its place after restoration and recreation of a new head, thanks to Serge Bloch, a sculptor from Grenoble. Located at the end of the Boulevard de la Colonne, it is a landmark and a rallying point for many meetings and events
