ÉGLISE SAINT-ANDRÉ DES AVANCHERS
Baroque style church built by Louis Billiot and Aimé Riondet which was transformed into a neo-Gothic building in 1845.
Les Avanchers-Valmorel is a commune with many villages separated by the Morel torrent. On its territory is the Valmorel ski resort. This is where the church of Saint-André is located. It was built in the 17th century (1676) by Louis Billiot and Aimé Riondet, on the site of an older building that probably dated from the 13th century. In Baroque style, however, it has kept the Romanesque bell tower, inside which there were four bells until the French Revolution. Today, there are only three of them left. In 1845, it was transformed into a neo-Gothic building. One of the remarkable pieces is the attic of the main altarpiece, depicting God the Father, now placed on the balustrade of the gallery.
