Authentic mill retracing 500 years of paper and book-making history in the Marches.
In 1987, Jacques Gaillard, heir to a line of renowned booksellers in Chambéry, launched the association Les Compagnons du Livre with a group of friends who were passionate about literature. Their aim: to create a cultural and tourist venue dedicated to the evolution of writing. After finding an ideal site in the Combe de Savoie region, on the remains of an old 17th-century mill, they founded the Conservatoire du Papier et des Arts Graphiques. A must-see!
