FORT SAINT-GOBAIN
A strong remnant of the Second World War, dating from 1933, a defense system for the railroads and the national road.
This military vestige, a rare testimony to the Second World War accessible to the public in the region, was part of the Maginot Line, designed to defend France against Italian troops. Built in 1933, it protected the railroads and the national road with its strategic equipment: armored gate, technical premises, electromechanical plant and upstream water catchment. The four combat blocks were equipped with firing posts, observatories and grenade chutes, testifying to the sophistication of the defensive system.
