MINE PALACE
Palais de la mine in Peisey, a space dedicated to lead and silver mines dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, to be visited.
The Monts d'Argent are a reminder of the importance of lead and silver mining in Peisey. Discovered in 1644, the galena vein was mined until 1866. During the First Empire, from 1802 to 1814, Peisey was home to the École française des Mines, which trained 70 engineers before being transferred to Paris. Today, the site features a museum trail with explanations of mining. In the open air, you can discover the remains of the mining installations, the tomb of Chevalier Rosenberg and the Palais de la Mine.
