MINE PALACE
Palais de la mine in Peisey, a space dedicated to lead and silver mines dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, to be visited.
Les Monts d'Argent was the name given to the commune of Peisey during the French Revolution, testifying to the importance of mining in the region. In 1644, the discovery of a vein of galena, a sulphide of argentiferous lead, marked the beginning of mining until 1866. Today, the Monts d'Argent site, located in Pont-Baudin, offers a museum trail along which information panels tell the story of the silver-lead mines and highlight their importance in history.
