SAN MARTIN CHURCH
The church of Saint Martin, in the southern Gothic style, dates from the fifteenth century. The bell, demolished to the revolution, was rebuilt in 1801. From the entrance, note, on either side of the portal of the polychrome stone statues, Burgundian influence, dating back to the fifteenth century. On both sides of the nef, eight chapels are opened, erected by Marcolès faithful to be entitled to a bench and burial. Thanks to the restorations, the decoration of the choir and the vault of the nef, the seventeenth century, have been restored. There are also eighteenth century badids under the triumphal arc and on the arch of the chapel of the Crucified Chapel. The church has rich furniture: the chair of truth and its polychromies, the golden wood retable of the rosary chapel, the table of the presentation in the Temple, the reliquary statue of Saint Martin (xivcentury), or the archangel Gabriel, the polychrome stone of the fifteenth century, and the magnificent timber masterpiece carved. The latter two are listed Historic Monuments. The parish of Marcolès also owns most of the relics of Saint Martin, with Tours. Two annual festivals allowed them to celebrate. In 2017, Marcolès celebrated the 350 years of the discovery of these relics.
