COL DE LA MADELEINE
Pass linking the Tarentaise and Maurienne regions, dominated by the Grand Pic de la Lauzière.
Perched at an altitude of 1,993 metres, the Col de la Madeleine allows the passage between the Tarentaise and Maurienne rivers. In other words, it separates the massifs of the Vanoise and Lauzière. It is one of the mythical passes of the Tour de France, which first passed through it in 1969. Needless to say, it is very popular with cyclists. This place is also steeped in history, as it was already strategically located during the time of Ancient Rome. At 2,000 meters, we find a stele. The pass is dominated by the Grand Pic de la Lauzière (2,829 m above sea level) to the north and the summit of Cheval Noir, the summit of the Vanoise massif to the south-east.
