CHÂTEAU DE MAUCHAMP
Ruins of a castle with 2 towers, which was an observation post and a stage on the paths around Saint-Maurice-de-Rotherens.
From Mauchamp Castle, built between 1343 and 1359, only ruins remain, namely two towers whose stones still only hold thanks to climbing ivy that seem to be struggling to preserve what remains. It was built following the fire of the Tour de Conspectus, 500 m to the north, constituting a privileged observation post over the Guiers valley. This castle was reportedly destroyed by Lesdiguières in 1595. It can nevertheless be a stopover for those who like to discover the paths around Saint-Maurice-de-Rotherens... which do not fail to offer other sights on the way: the Pierre which turns along the GR9, the Pierre Chapotée, the Pierre du Mulet for example... to remain on a lapidary theme
