REFUGE DE L'ÉTENDARD
Refuge offering a very beautiful panorama on the back of the chain of Belledonne and the Aiguilles de l'Argentière.
Refuge of the French Federation of Alpine and Mountain Clubs, the Refuge de l'Etendard is perched at an altitude of 2,430 metres not far from Lake Bramans (or Great Lake). To access it, in winter it is mainly done by Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, in Maurienne, either from the village (2h30), or by taking a refuge ascent by chairlift to the top of the slopes 5 min from the refuge. By contacting the guardian, we can get more details. You also have to deal with the weather. In summer, the main access road starts from the Croix de Fer pass. It takes 2 hours on a track that can be driven on (no traffic for motor vehicles). We appreciate the place for its access to the Pic de l'Etendard or the Saint-Sorlin glacier. From up there: very beautiful panorama on the back of the Belledonne chain and the Aiguilles de l'Argentière!
