THE ALPINE GARDEN OF CHANOUSIA
Garden located on the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass, a place that can be discovered as soon as the snow melts, known as the angel of the mountain.
Located at the Petit-Saint-Bernard Pass, this magnificent place is discovered as soon as the snow melts. The idea came from Father Chanoux and his attachment to the Petit-Saint-Bernard Pass. He was called "the angel of the mountain". He has thus rehabilitated the hospice of Petit-Saint-Bernard. Passionate about nature, he has especially recreated a garden with more than 4,500 different varieties of mountain plants on this plateau of more than 1 km. He imagined this acclimatisation garden at an altitude of 2,172 m, which today includes more than 1,000 alpine species but also other mountainous regions. The abbot is buried not far from the garden, his statue and chapel remind us of his commitment and devotion. Take advantage of this garden to discover all the biodiversity of the area and its protection.
