FORT DE RONCE
A fort perched at an altitude of 2,286 m, it was once an Italian defensive fortification, with beautiful panoramic views along the way.
Erected by Italy in response to France, Fort de Ronce, at an altitude of 2,286 metres, offers a breathtaking view of Lake Mont-Cenis. Italy built the fort in 1861 as part of its commitment to national unity and territorial defense. At the end of the 19th century, Italy strengthened its presence in the Mont-Cenis region, building several forts. Fort de Ronce, completed between 1877 and 1880, was designed to meet the artillery advances of the time. A story that evokes diplomatic tensions with France.
