CHURCH OF SANTIAGO DE ASSYRIA
Church dedicated to Saint James of Assyria to admire the vaults of the choir, the major altarpiece dating from the eighteenth century, the tabernacle.
The church of Les Boisses, dedicated to Santiago de Assyria, has an unusual history. James of Assyria (or Tarentaise) is a saint of the Roman Catholic Church, born in Assyria (or Syria). He is considered as the evangelizer of the Tarentaise and its first traditional bishop. The current church was built between 1950 and 1952, in the same way as the old village church, which was flooded by the dam water. Labelled as a 20th century Heritage Site, it is one of the Baroque Paths® of the Facim Foundation. It should be noted that all the furniture has been transferred to the new church of Les Boisses. One can therefore continue to admire the vaults of the choir, the main altarpiece dating from the 18th century, the tabernacle from the 19th century or the altarpiece of the Rosary and that of Saint Joseph.
