SAINT BERNARD OF MENTHON CHURCH
This church is located in Val-d'Isère, a small mountain village in the Vanoise Massif in the Haute-Tarentaise region of France
The church in Val d'Isère, which backs onto the Iseran pass, features a Romanesque bell tower built in 1664. Its 33-metre octagonal spire remains one of the few structures to have escaped the revolutionary fury of 1794. An inscription engraved in 1531 on the tufa arch of the choir recalls the privilege granted by the Pope to the inhabitants, authorizing the construction of a church complete with bell tower and baptistery, thus easing their pilgrimage to Tignes.
