COL DU GALIBIER
The Col du Galibier, a mythical pass for cyclists, steeped in history and magnificent panoramas.
Perched at an altitude of 2,645 meters, the Col du Galibier is not only mythical for cyclists - the first Tour de France to use it was in 1911 - but also steeped in history, as it seems that man passed through here as far back as prehistoric times. It links Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne and Briançon via the Col du Télégraphe to the north and the Col du Lautaret to the south. Between the two lies Valloire, an essential stopover. Here you can spot the Meije massif, the Grand Galibier and Mont-Blanc, no less!
