THE TOWERS OF MONTMAYEUR
A commune in the heart of Savoie and the birthplace of the noble Montmayeur family in Villard-Sallet.
Villard-Sallet is a municipality in the heart of Savoie. It is also the cradle of the noble de Montmayeur family. The site of the Montmayeur towers is medieval. These are the remains of what remains of the old castle from the 12th-13th centuries. The northeast tower, which rises more than 20 m above the ground, dominates the whole. The location of this building was particularly strategic since it dominated the entire Combe de Savoie. From there, you have a 360-degree view of the Bauges, the Belledonne massif and the Chartreuse massif. A very pretty setting that can be the subject of a walk that everyone will appreciate, starting from the Col de la Cochette (587 m), where the car will be placed to continue on foot. Distance: about 12 km and 500 m of difference in altitude.
