A sugar farm that used to be a cotton mill, retracing the history of the slaves who worked there in 1848.
The site of the Habitation La Mahaudière has been selected to integrate the circuit " The Slave Route - Traces of memory in Guadeloupe " because of its link with the history of slavery in the Guadeloupe archipelago. It is an itinerary that has been developed for a better understanding of this painful historical context. In 1848, 147 slaves worked on the 465 hectares of this sugar farm, which was previously a cotton mill.
