The imposing building dates back to 1823 and stands on the site of a former distillery. It boasts beautiful stone and wood architecture. Service takes place on the shaded gallery that surrounds the house and opens onto the tropical garden, under the watchful eye of Stéphanie and Rodolphe. The chef subtly blends local flavors with traditional French cuisine. The setting and the passion for the job make this one of the island's must-visit restaurants. After months of renovation, the restaurant reopened at the end of 2024.

This restaurant welcomes you in a remarkable building dating from 1660, located on the site of a former distillery. Its beautiful wood and stone architecture and tropical garden will seduce you. Here, you'll discover tasty cuisine prepared with fresh, seasonal produce. For starters, try Caribbeans Smokerz BBQ wood-smoked capri croquette or pigeon pea falafel with fresh herb yoghurt sauce and pineapple. Next, grilled entrecôte, fish tartar with maracuja or wild red shrimp flambéed in old rum, accompanied by vegetable spaghetti sautéed in bisque are excellent options. To finish on a sweet note, chocolate cake or rum baba will delight the most demanding palates. But nothing is set in stone: the menu evolves according to new arrivals and the chef's inspiration. Much more than just a restaurant, L'Habitation Desmarais is a popular meeting place for Basse-Terre residents and visitors in search of authenticity and refinement.
