SLAVE GRAVEYARD
Slave cemetery with a dozen unmarked earthen graves surrounded by lambis conches, topped by a cross.
Near the Bois-Debout dwelling, following a small path in poor condition, you come to an engraved stele bearing the inscription: "À la mémoire de nos ancêtres esclaves. Honor and Respect". Only this stele can tell you that this is the site of a slave cemetery. Here, a dozen unmarked earthen graves are surrounded by lambi conches, topped by a cross with the head facing Africa. A modest place of remembrance, which recalls, not without emotion, the period of colonization and slavery.
