Marble bust dedicated to Christopher Columbus, surrounded by cannons and two ship anchors, in the center of a green space.
On November 4, 1493, Christopher Columbus saw a land and landed on a shore. He gave it the name Guadeloupe in homage to Santa Maria de Guadalupe in Estremadura. The Christopher Columbus Memorial was inaugurated in 1916. It is a marble bust surrounded by cannons and two ship anchors set in the centre of a green space donated by a planter family. Under the statue is a poem written by the governor of the time.
