KAHOUANNE ISLAND
Ilet with its contrasting landscapes of cliffs, beaches and hills, where sea birds and sea turtles come to lay their eggs.
Located 1.5 km from the town of Deshaies to which it is attached, the islet Kahouanne offers contrasting landscapes between cliffs, beaches and morasses that follow one another on a surface of 20 hectares ... Its dry forest is composed of mancenilliers, frangipani trees, red gum trees and a mangrove with white mangroves. Protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral, the islet is home to marine birds such as terns, brown pelicans and frigate birds. It is also a precious place because marine turtles come to lay their eggs every year.
