SITE OF GRISEL
military site surrounded by fortifications with cannons, the remains of a cistern and the foundations of barracks.
Located north of the town of Gourbeyre, the plateau of palm, with an altitude of 530 meters, was home to coffee and cocoa plantations later replaced by banana plantations. It preserves the memory of a part of the history with the military battery of Grisel which formed an advanced post in case of attack coming from Trois-Rivières or Pointe-à-Pitre, because it benefits from an impregnable view. The military site, which dates from the 17th century, is surrounded by fortifications that include cannons, the remains of a cistern and the foundations of barracks.
