Microdistillery producing an agricultural rum thanks to two different technical innovations, available in the boutique.
This is the5th distillery on Marie-Galante and the most recent, created in 2007. For 10 years, this micro-distillery was associated with Bielle, before moving to new employees at Père Labat's Poisson distillery. Rhum Rhum is a brand created by Luca Gargano, director of the Velier company, which specializes in importing top-quality spirits, and his friend Gianni Capovilla, considered the world's best distiller of eaux-de-vie. A rum enthusiast, Gargano has been criss-crossing the Caribbean for years in search of the best products and production processes. Rhum Rhum is an agricultural rum produced in small quantities thanks to two technical innovations completely different from what is currently done in the archipelago. The cane juice is fermented pure, without the addition of water, in two small 2,000-liter fermentation tanks at a controlled temperature, a novel process. Fermentation takes a long time (between 5 and 7 days), before double distillation in a still heated in a bain-marie. The finished product resembles sugarcane brandy. 8,000 bottles of white rum and 5,000 bottles of "Libération" aged rum are produced each year by this micro-distillery. These products can be found in the Père Labat boutique and on specialized websites. You'll find cuvées 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2020, references that don't mention the year of distillation, but the year they came out of barrel. Visits on request.
