ROD DISTILLERY
Distillery offering a tour of the facilities to discover the rum-making process and its ancient surcotte.
Founded in 1769, Habitation Bielle has evolved with successive owners. Once dedicated to the production of coffee, then cocoa, cotton and sugar, it then turned to the distillation of rhum agricole around 1900. Rhum agricole" owes its reputation to the origin of its raw material, pure cane juice, fermented and distilled. The Bielle distillery is renowned for its legendary 59° rum, as well as for its wide range of highly prized aged rums. It also offers a selection of fragrant liqueurs to awaken the senses. Every year, the company excels at the Concours Général Agricole: in 2024, it won 5 medals, including 2 golds: one for its 7-year-old aged rum and the other for its 59° canne grise white rum.
Located in the heart of the island, the Bielle distillery is within easy reach.
Take a tour of the distillery's facilities to learn more about the rum-making process. You're free to wander around, guided by a signposted circuit and explanatory panels.
A stroll through the estate will take you back in time, with its old "sucrotte" and restored steam engines, witnesses to the sugar industry of the last century.
At the end of your visit, you're invited to taste the wide variety of rums from the distillery, which you'll find in the boutique. You can also take advantage of the opportunity to discover the surrounding craft stores (pottery, Toumaï fabric painting, local products, jams...).

Ça serait nettement plus intéressant si un guide était présent pour rendre la visite plus ludique selon moi.
De ce fait, ce qui était réellement intéressant, c était de pouvoir goûter les différents rhums ou liqueurs avant le passage a la boutique...
