GRANDE-ANSE
Fisherman's port and capital of La Désirade, ideal for hiking to the Plaine des Galets and Pointe des Colibris.
The boat arrives at Grande-Anse, a small fishing port and the nerve center of the commune. The village is organized around the small church adjoining the presbytery, the town hall, the post office and the library. In the landscape, rusting cannons bear witness to the battles that were fought on this land coveted by both the English and the French.
The first hike heads west: around 1h30 to reach the Plaine des Galets and Pointe des Colibris. Just outside the village, Beauséjour beach offers a photogenic view!
