AQUARIUM DE LA GUADELOUPE
Aquarium to discover the rich marine fauna of the Caribbean and West Indian biotopes, with fish, sharks and more to admire.
Discover the rich marine fauna of the Caribbean and the many biotopes of the West Indies in over 50 tanks featuring the different ecosystems of the Guadeloupe archipelago. The aquarium's mission is to showcase the species of the Caribbean's seabed in an entertaining way, and it's also a matter of ecological urgency. More than 2,000 fish and invertebrates are on display, from the tiny seahorse to the shark and the majestic ray, which performs a veritable aquatic ballet.
Understand the fragile balance of the coral reef, but also that of the mangrove swamps, sandy seabeds and abysses, where the fish, invertebrates and plants that inhabit them remain a mystery. Video clips and educational panels punctuate the visit. Three play areas are available for children.
The aquarium offers a range of family-friendly activities with Seatour, a structure that lets visitors discover the mangrove swamp, go diving or take a sailboat ride. The aquarium is also in partnership with the IGREC Mer association, a care center for sea turtles. Once recovered, the turtle is released. Schools and the general public are invited to attend the release to raise awareness.
A free audioguide (French, English and Spanish) is available via smartphone for a more in-depth visit and to learn a thousand and one things about the marine world! The site is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
