GOSIER ISLAND
Islet accessible by fishing boat from Anse Tabarin, ideal for relaxation, swimming and underwater hiking.
Less than 5 minutes by small fishing boat from Anse Tabarin, next to Plage de la Datcha, you'll reach the îlet du Gosier, which you can already admire on the horizon from Pointe de la Verdure, from the town of Gosier or from the coastline. The islet, 500 metres away, can be reached by swimming or kayaking. On the way back, the currents are favorable, pushing you towards Gosier beach.
If you want to make the return trip by boat, plan it in advance, otherwise you'll be forced to swim back as well! The modest size of the island justifies its name. The underwater discovery trail is on the program of a number of associations and other independent guides who offer to take you to the islet, where you can spend the day. You can climb up to the lighthouse (the second oldest in Guadeloupe, dating back to 1929), swim and relax on the white sand in the bright light. During busy periods, the islet can become overcrowded, making it difficult to find a quiet spot. Don't miss the chance to discover the seabed and the animals that live in the heart of the coral reefs. You can observe and swim with the fish, and sometimes the turtles. Three buoys describing the flora and fauna punctuate the underwater hike, with fins, mask and snorkel. Near Anse Tabarin, you'll also find a seawater swimming pool and a sailing school.
