Cemetery included in the "La Route de l'Esclave - Traces mémoires en Guadeloupe" tour, burials revealed during excavations.
This site was selected, along with 17 other emblematic heritage sites, to integrate the circuit "The Slave Route - Traces of memory in Guadeloupe" because of its link with the history of slavery. An itinerary that has been developed for a better understanding of this painful historical context. An excavation operation revealed the presence of a slave cemetery of about 150 graves. The place constitutes a major archaeological site in Guadeloupe. It is to be deplored the lack of maintenance of the site which is littered with plastic waste.
